What is the ethnic style ?

Whatever your decor, ethnic accents and elements can anchor your home in a timeless tradition. Ethnic elements fit perfectly into any décor, whether it's contemporary, eclectic, minimalist or traditional.

The ethnic style is meant to bring warm and bright shades into your home. This style includes carved furniture and gives you a wide range of furniture options. In the ethnic style, designs are inspired by different cultures, create a warm and comfortable atmosphere in the rooms, with its different shapes colors and textures.

Mixing authentic objects brought back from travels, mottled furniture and recuperation spirit, the ethnic style is right in the air of time, we who dream of interiors like travels.

From Africa to Asia through India, from their common affection for the warm colors evoking the earth, the natural materials and especially the ancestral know-how, the ethnic chic style.

Contrary to popular belief, the ethnic chic style is measured in its relationship to color and can be perfectly content with white walls as long as they are decorated with artisanal details or that echo a distant aesthetic.

To decorate a room in a pure ethnic style, fabrics from elsewhere are the best allies, even on the walls. Berber rugs and embroidered or patterned wall hangings will warm up the atmosphere and create a sense of escape.

If the walls are spoilt for choice, the floor should, at best, be covered with a dark wood floor, ethnic rugs or at least natural fibers.

It is the star of ethnic interiors: the ethnic carpet. Oriental carpets, Berber carpets, Bukhara carpets, Boucherouite carpets, but also carpets made of sea rush, bamboo or jute. The main thing will be to know how to marry them to the general atmosphere and accumulate them with care to create an atmosphere that breathes elsewhere.

Exotic wood or oak flooring is very popular in ethnic interiors. Its beautiful brown color and its robust and warm style echo the furniture that will match this style.

Tadelakt is a waterproof lime coating. It is the oriental flooring par excellence, in a room like the bathroom or bedroom, warmed by beautiful rugs.

The ethnic spirit will unfold from the sofa covered with cushions and plaids to the ethnic patterns through the smallest piece of furniture in rattan. The ethnic spirit will unfold from the sofa covered with cushions and plaids to the ethnic patterns through the smallest piece of furniture in rattan.

A beautiful linen sofa. No matter the color, whether bright or neutral, linen has the gift of warming a room and instilling elegance and a feeling of benevolence. It will be accompanied by cushions and plaids in the same logic: no matter the color, make room for natural materials, geometric and ethnic patterns.

A coffee table, or even several! The nesting tables, very fashionable at the moment, can take place in the living room. A long wooden table, in a bench style, will also do the trick. The main thing is to know how to harmonize the whole in terms of materials. Don't hesitate to look for fifties tables in walnut, a brown and warm wood.

An end of sofa, the ethnic style loves this kind of small details. The end of sofa underlines the welcoming character of the place. It can take the same codes as the coffee table, displaying a beautiful exotic wood or black lacquered metal. The end of sofa is typically a small piece of furniture that you can easily bring back from one of your trips.

A variety of seats. Browse through flea markets and stores specializing in ethnic furniture and find seats that will make your living room travel. An ebony stool for a Japanese style, a low rattan pouffe for an Indian style, a hammered metal stool for an oriental style.

The ethnic style is the explosion of colors.

The range of these extends from yellows to reds which are sometimes associated with turquoise and fushias.

The colors are mixed with patterns often very colorful. We will find wax, animal prints, graphic patterns that we will have to mix cleverly to avoid overload.

We will find these patterns in accessories mainly: cushions, rugs, dishes ...

The ethnic style favors natural and raw materials. Thus we will integrate wood often carved for furniture (tables, chairs) and rattan but also bamboo and a touch of copper or metal to soften the whole.

This style uses a lot of fabrics of different styles and influences (Indian, African, Asian ...) and it accumulates them.

We also associate the ethnic with wrought iron, tadelakt and zelliges.

As we have seen above, ethnic is above all the use of natural materials.

We will use bamboo or natural fiber suspensions, lanterns, garlands and candles.

Everything you need to create a warm atmosphere.
